Matariki (The eyes of God) is the Māori name for the Pleides Star Cluster
The Pleiades cluster is also known as "The Seven Sisters."
The coming of Matariki symbolised the harvest festival where Māori feasted on the crops they had prepared. Matariki is important because it also is the time to restart the Māori calendar. It is a time of hope, reflection, and regeneration. That is why we celebrate Matariki as "The Māori New Year."
Our Matariki Soap is made with respect to our forefathers, and to those that surround us. We see the stars in the white sparkling grains of salt that contrast against the dark background of the soap.
This is a special natural organic homemade soap, made with Aroha in Southland Aotearoa.
As with all of our soaps, we have personally tested a bar, and found that it creates the smoothest, most luxurious lather that we have ever made. Like all of our soaps, it can be used as a shampoo soap, a body soap, and for shaving.
